Make sure your Christmas shopping is ordered in time to avoid disappointment on Christmas Day – here's our rundown of top retailers' last order dates.

If you're anything like the majority of students, you'll no doubt leave your Christmas shopping to the last minute.

Despite last minute shopping being much easier now thanks to the wonder that is online shopping (and Amazon Prime), too many still fall into the trap of thinking you can get cheap next day delivery right up to Christmas Day. FYI: you can't.

A few major retailers even have last order dates for Christmas as early as the 15th December! Save yourself from the annoying situation where you're forced to pay £5+ for last minute delivery (if it's even available) or be left out in the cold entirely on Christmas Day without your presents arriving in time.

Below we've got an extensive list of all the major Christmas retailers and their last order dates for Christmas 2019, Christmas delivery costs and Royal Mail's final posting dates for 2019 – important if you'll be sending packages or cards to any friends and family.

• Search for your favourite retailer if you like, or just take a browse through the list. If you don't see one of your favourites, just let us know and we can add it
• Always double check the delivery time and cost for your specific item as it can vary on some sites
• Click and collect is available at most stores now and could be a cheaper last minute option
• Look out for free delivery codes in our student deals section, too
• Top tip: Get free Amazon student prime and order right up until the 24th December (yes, that means same day delivery!) in some locations.

Royal Mail last delivery dates

The Royal Mail will most likely be delivering a couple of cards or presents for you this Christmas. Their last order date for Christmas delivery is slightly earlier than most retailers.

Standard 2nd class parcels and cards have to be sent for delivery before 18th December 2018 or 20th December for 1st class.

If you're desperate you can still send items via special delivery on the 22nd December (but it'll cost you).
