You can now become a professional chicken nugget taster – and here’s how to apply

Hands up if you fancy the idea of giving up on lectures and exams and becoming a chicken nugget tester.

become a chicken nugget taster

It’s that time of year again, when the next 12 months are laid out ahead of you and you’re considering what changes to make in your life.

Perhaps you'd like to earn more money, get healthier, start a new hobby, or even get a new job.

Maybe you feel like your current job isn’t really for you, or you're not too keen on the company you work for. You may even still be looking for your first job.

Well, we have some good news for you: one lucky person has the chance to do the job of a lifetime... if you like chicken nuggets, that is.

What is this job?

get paid to eat chicken nuggets

Low-cost retailer, B&M, is now officially searching for a Chicken Nugget Connoisseur.

The job advert explains that the company is looking to expand its frozen food range and needs some help to test out the new range.

With puns that are just as juicy as the nuggets themselves, the advert states:

You’ll want to take a bite out of this, as we’re looking for a tasty new individual, who’ll be worth their weight in… food.

Just like a good steak, this opportunity is rare and shouldn't be diced with.

The position, based in Merseyside, near Liverpool, involves eating the products and then providing feedback to the company’s bosses.

What do you need to become a Chicken Nugget Connoisseur?

You should just be aware that there are six quite strange (or not so strange, depending on your diet) requirements if you want to be considered for the role.

B&M want someone who has the following experience:

  1. Getting the 20 share box of nuggets from McDonalds and keeping them all for yourself
  2. Being the first in the office kitchen whenever someone says there’s cake
  3. That time you tripped and fell at a buffet and saved the plate before yourself
  4. Going to an event or party because there is free food
  5. You value the importance of a fish finger sandwich in life
  6. You can conduct a PowerPoint presentation on the reasoning behind curly fries being nicer than chips.

If you’re liking the sound of it, you should definitely apply here.

The nitty-gritty

apply to become chicken nugget eater

Don’t feel too crestfallen, but the role of Chicken Nugget Connoisseur is only a temporary one, so you can’t actually make a lifelong career out of it.

However, it might be a great option as a way to earn some money on the side if you’re studying somewhere near Merseyside.

The job advert was posted on 12th January and currently there's no specified closing date. That said, we get the feeling that there might be quite a few applicants for the position.

The successful candidate will get this highly sought-after job as well as £25 in vouchers every month to spend on fresh and frozen food.

In return, they just need to share their opinion on the products they taste so B&M can work out which products should go into their new range.

Applicants simply need to write one paragraph on why they should be chosen for this opportunity, and then list their relevant experiences.

Other weird ways to balance the books

weird ways to make money

Perhaps the Chicken Nugget Connoisseur role isn’t for you (although unless you're a vegetarian/vegan, or don't live near Merseyside, we literally cannot understand why you wouldn't be interested). But worry not, as there are plenty of other unconventional ways to boost your bank balance.

Another thrifty student saves cash not by working, but by finding a cheaper way to live. Joe Pearce, studying for a Masters in Aberystwyth, lives on an £800 yacht to save money on rent. Better yet, he doesn’t have to share a messy student kitchen!

When you dig deep, there really is a multitude of weird ways to earn some extra dollar, even while you study. You could do some pet sitting, sell on Etsy, or even become an extra in a film or TV show.

Two things are for sure, though. Firstly, if you want to become a Chicken Nugget Connoisseur, you'd better apply quickly! Secondly, this song will now be stuck in your head for the rest of the day:

Just in case you don’t get the job (and we’re sure you will), here are some great tips for saving money on takeaways.
