Use price comparison websites
By Owen in Spend Money.
We’re in an age of consumerism, and today you have more power as a consumer than ever. Today you have the ability to make informed choices as to where to put your hard earned money.
Firstly, it’s becoming widely accepted that shopping online is often cheaper than the high street. A shopping comparison site makes spending even cheaper. In seconds you can find the cheapest price for what you’re after, which will save you a good wad of cash over time. Using a price comparison site can save you money on almost anything you can buy online – from insurance, books, games consoles, clothes to food – for free! Really, there are not many good reasons for a money saving student not to use a price comparison site when spending. If you’re making a big purchase, try a couple because they may come up with different results.
The main shopping price comparison websites are Kelkoo, Pricerunner, and Google
products.
For food shopping, compare your trolley between the supermarkets at mySupermarket.
To compare energy suppliers (gas and electricty) use Saveonyourbills.co.uk.
Watch out for sponsored affiliates (that’s how they make money) and additional delivery costs that are not usually included in the price it gives you. Also remember that the shopping comparison sites often miss out retailers that may be cheaper still. Keep an eye out for current offers on sites like HotUKDeals, as well. Also don’t forget eBay, Gumtree or the student market place for grabbing a real bargain!
